The third criteria in our model home construction standard is selecting and installing the very best heating and cooling system to insure indoor comfort and maximum (predictable) energy efficiency. For the SIPS model that choice was a no-brainer … HTH selected the Tranquility 27 2-stage water-source geothermal heat pump by ClimateMaster, and local HVAC contractor LeBaun Heating & Cooling for its installation. While the actual installation of the Tranquility 27 is currently underway, our preliminary research, Manual J Load Calculation, and Energy Audit data tells us this home – as built – and with the Tranquility 27 heat pump, will heat, cool, and provide supplemental hot water production for under $40.00 per month on average.  As is the case of the HTH ICF model home across the street, this home’s HVAC system will also be sub-metered in order to track and verify actual usage, and we will post the ongoing savings on this site for a period of two years – the same tracking period of the ICF model home.

The HTH SIPS model home will soon be offered for sale, and the terms of the sale will include an agreement that the home’s new owner agree to provide HTH with its meter readings and access to utility company records in order to track and develop the energy usage data.

As an interesting footnote … this SIPS model home is located in a gorgeous lakeside development favored by several St. Louis sports celebrities, so this home also offers a “ Who’s-Who” list of new neighbors!
